Food Forests (FF) are public land plots growing plants for shade, food, pollinators, and children of all ages. Sheridan's FF is close to our pathway, Goose Creek, & Thorne Rider Park. Educating people about the benefits of planting pollinator friendly crops, helping people appreciate community spirit, and providing fruits, vegetables , and flowers for enjoyment provides inspiration for private landowners, as well as those less fortunate. We hope to inspire people to plant a variety of crops on their land, while instilling values in youth to appreciate social responsibilities , as well as opportunities to pick local fruits & vegetables.

The "Tragedy of the Commons" is not a given. It can become a self-fulfilling prophecy, if those expectations are fostered. Food Forests are flourishing in many communities across America, as people learn to cooperate, not just compete. The stories we tell, and the actions we focus on have consequences! Thank you to the City of Sheridan, and the Parks & Recreation Department for supporting our efforts.
